Occurs in the Namib dunes from Oranjemund in the south of Namibia to the Ugab River in the north. 100mm in length, the scorpion has a shiny integument, yellow orange as a juvenile and becoming yellow as an adult. This psammophilous species excavates burrows in dune sand at the base of vegetation. When the adult in the picture on the right caught a baboon spider (probably Harpactira namaquensis) it ripped most of the spider's legs off.
