Genera naturalised in southern Africa

List from Plants of Southern Africa - an Online Checklist (SANBI).

Ibicella

The three species are native to warm regions of South America and one, Ibicella lutea, has been introduced to southern Africa where it has become a garden escape and a weed of cultivation.

Proboscidea

The nine species are native to warm regions of South America. Proboscidea fragrans originates from Mexico and besides being an ornamental garden species, it is also cultivated for its fruit. In southern Africa it occurs as a garden escape and is thought to have become naturalised.
