Born on the farm Hazenjacht near De Rust in the Oudtshoorn district.

Obtained B.Sc. at Grey College, Bloemfontein.

1924

 

Appointed lecturer in Entomology at Grootfontein Agricultural College near Middelburg.

1929

 

Appointed lecturer at Glen Agricultural College, near Bloemfontein.

1931

 

Appointed research entomologist at the Summer Cereal Experimental Station at Kroonstad. He and A. Lea did research on maize stalk borer.

1933

 

Experimental Station closed down; moved to Union Buildings in Pretoria to assist in locust control.

1943

 

Appointed Chief Locust Officer in Pretoria.

1959

Retired as Chief Locust Officer. Appointed Director of the International Red Locust Control Service (IRLCS) and moved to Abercorn (= Mbala) in Zambia.

1969

Retired from IRLCS.

1970

 

Moved from Abercorn back to Pretoria.

20 May 1978

 

Died in Pretoria.
