Alston, Garwood

Surveyor and part-time naturalist. 

Plug (1999): "In October 1899 surveyer Garwood Alston completed his observations of the triangles connecting the western part of the Bechuanaland survey with the northern part of the arc of meridian measured some 60 years earlier by Thomas Maclear (1794-1879)...Alston also continued collecting natural history specimens which this year [1899] included three species of coleoptera new to the South African Museum."
