Acanthacris

Four species, with a distribution including Africa and the Arabian Peninsula. Acanthacris ruficornis is native to southern Africa.

Acridoderes

An African genus of eight species. Two species, Acridoderes arthriticus and Acridoderes laevigatus, are native to southern Africa.

 

Anacridium

Thirteen species, occurring in Africa, Europe, western Asia, Southeast Asia, and southern South America. Five species are native to southern Africa.

Cyrtacanthacris

Seven species, occurring in Africa, India and Southeast Asia. Two species, Cyrtacanthacris aeruginosa and Cyrtacanthacris tatarica, are native to southern Africa.

Kraussaria

An African genus of five species, with Kraussaria prasina native to southern Africa.

Nomadacris

One species, Nomadacris septemfasciata, native to Africa and Madagascar.

Ornithacris

An African genus of four species, with one, Ornithacris pictula, native to southern Africa.

Rhytidacris

An African genus of two species, with one of them, Rhytidacris punctata, native to southern Africa.

Schistocerca

Distributed through Africa, the Middle East, India, Philippines, North and South America. The Migratory locust, Schistocerca gregaria, has a broad distribution that includes southern Africa.
