Distribution and habitat
Breeds on islands in the Atlantic Ocean and off the coast
of Australia and New Zealand, typically remaining in temperate and subtropical
areas in the non-breeding season. It is a rare vagrant to southern Africa, with
four records off the coast of the south-Western Cape, one bird near central
Namibia and another two records off the coast of south-central Mozambique.
