Distribution and habitat
Occurs from southern North America to central South
America, although juveniles occasionally cross the Atlantic Ocean.
It is a rare vagrant to the coast of the Western Cape and central Namibia,
generally preferring estuaries and coastal lagoons.
Food
Its diet consists mainly of fish, amphibians and
invertebrates.
