Small beetles found in decaying plant matter. There are
about 10 species with names known from southern
Africa but a number of others in museum collections that are awaiting
description. All three families in the superfamily have been recorded from
southern Africa.

Clambidae
Tiny beetles (< 2 mm long) that live in leaf
litter. Adults have the ability to roll into a ball by folding the head
against the sternum. Two genera (one introduced) and three
species are known from southern Africa but there are a number of
species in museum collections awaiting description.

Eucenetidae
Small beetles (1.5 - 3 mm long) that as adults have
hindlegs adapted for jumping. They are associated with fungi in decaying
wood and leaf litter. There are no named species
from southern Africa but there are a few in museum collections that are
awaiting description.

Helodidae
Small to medium-sized beetles (2 - 10 mm long) found
in damp habitats on plants and in leaf litter. There are about seven
species known from southern Africa and a number of others in museum
collections awaiting description.
