Acanthoscelis ruficornis (Beach Ground Beetle), 18mm, is a predatory ground beetle found on sandy shores round South Africa where it feeds on kelp-feeding amphipods and isopods. [image by M. Picker & C. Griffiths ©, from Field Guide to Insects of South Africa, used with permission].
