A near endemic family to southern Africa, recorded as far north as Angola and Zambia. There are two genera and 23 species, with both genera and 21 species recorded from southern Africa. 

Genera native to southern Africa

Chelypus

Of the eight species, seven have been recorded from southern Africa. The remaining species has been recorded from Zambia.

 

Hexisopus

Fifteen species, of which 14 have been recorded from southern Africa. The remaining species is known from Angola.
